The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) is the British national governing body for all forms of boating sports. The qualifications gained from within the RYA scheme are recognized around the world and some are relevant to those driving commercially.


We are an ISO 9001 certified company demonstrating engineering excellence, this accreditation follows standards including UKAS in United Kingdom and DAC in UAE. XSS complies with ISO 9001:2015 requirements that focus on quality management.


The authority aims at issuing Marine Craft crew License to increase the drivers awareness and knowledge of safety requirements and marine rules especially with the internal and external water of Emirates and the marine signs in these areas.

JLS Yacht Training Institute (JLSYTI) is an RYA Recognized Training Centre (RTC). The RYA was initially established in 1875 to standardize Yachting and Sail training and ensure that competitions were run fairly with a single set of rules. It soon became obvious that the RYA would become the World leader in Yacht Training and Powerboat Training. The main AIM of both the RYA and JLSYTI is to deliver SAFE, PROFESSIONAL training to try to make water users safer. Our training facility is the Industry Leader in pleasure and light commercial training in the Middle East.


JLS holds the Worldwide recognized ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Certification. This shows our dedication and focus to ensuring our Policies, Procedures, and Processes follow the above system. This in turn provides a better experience for our customers. All JLS Operations and staff from Top to Bottom work within the framework of the ISO System. As part of this system, our course delivery offers both Regulated and Non-Regulated courses. The regulated courses are subject to Internal Quality Assurance and External Quality Assurance visits annually from the UK Awarding Body (RYA). The Non-Regulated courses that have been produced by JLSYTI are produced using “Due Diligence” at levels, from production to delivery.

Depending on the course being delivered, our class sizes range from 12:1 for RYA First Aid, RYA VHF Radio course and STCW courses, down to a maximum of 3:1 per course during the Marine driving licenses certification courses such as the RYA Level 2, Intermediate, and Advanced Powerboat Courses. This allows us to provide maximum interaction between the Instructor and student. This complies with both Internal and External Quality assurance and local legislation and ensures Quality learning is taking place. This ensures that before the student applies for their UAE boat driving license or Dubai boat driving license, JLSYTI has Ensured the student fully understands the Rules and regulation controlling their safe use of the Marine Environment, and their ability to handle a boat safely.

All our RYA Powerboat Instructors are Trained, Developed, and Mentored by our in-house Train the Trainer or an RYA Trainer from the UK who will visit us to run an RYA Powerboat Instructor Course. We also have a Robust Internal Quality Assurance Policy as explained above. All our training teams carry out annual Continual Personal Development (CPD) to ensure the training they offer us is both up-to-date and in line with both the Awarding body and Local and International Legislation.
